Use Case: How a Sales Team Improves Productivity with Swit

Prepare. Evaluate. Communicate. Execute.

May 12, 2023

In 2023, sales teams have entirely evolved, and there are many things that come up against their ability to be proficient and productive. With social media use at an all-time high, statistics show that the average attention span is declining. If we also add the element of increased remote work following COVID-19, this only makes things more difficult.

So how can sales teams come out on top, and find maximum productivity?

Don’t get lost in your day

We’ve all heard the old saying, “Success does not come overnight." For sales teams to be successful, there needs to be compounded momentum. Where does momentum come from? It stems from a series of small events combined that eventually catalyst a larger and more powerful force.

“The Compound Effect is the principle of reaping huge rewards from a series of small, intelligent choices. Even though the results are massive, the steps at the moment, don’t feel significant.” - Darren Hardy, The Compound Effect

On the sales team here at Swit, we have so many daily actions that need to be completed. Task cards have been an amazing resource for our team to stay on top of every daily requirement. With our template feature, we have the ability to turn them into daily recurring tasks. From here we can include all necessary checklist items, notes, due dates, emails, and documents.

Because Swit combines communication and tasks together, we will often share these tasks with each other if we get stuck, or need help completing specific items. With so many distractions ready to derail us from our daily objectives, these task cards become our map and our legend in driving us to have a successful and productive day.

Stay aligned on goals

Micro-goals and daily goals are both very important, but these are just vehicles that help transport us to the overall objectives. A recent goal-setting study found that we are 42% more likely to achieve our goals just by writing them down. So how can we utilize this information on a larger scale?

At Swit, we set our goals through OKRs and evaluate them every quarter. With our Goals plug-in, this has never been easier — and it even notifies us of our upcoming review and goal-setting periods. Not only can we share these objectives and key results with each other, but we can see the big picture of what our organization is trying to achieve.

“Organizational alignment is important because it helps to encourage collaboration and a mutual pursuit of company goals, which has several long-term benefits to the success and productivity of an organization.” - Indeed Editorial Team

Swit supports many different ways to check in and update these metrics depending on the individual or team’s workflow. You can update progress by percentage, KPI, or connected Tasks. For our sales team, because our goals are often based on numbers, we find that setting a target value through the KPI metric suits us best.

Setting goals provides a magnifying glass for every employee. With consistent goal updating and evaluation, we can hold ourselves accountable, while remaining transparent and open about our performance.

The struggle is real

  • 60% of companies don’t have a long-term strategy for their internal communications.
  • 74% of employees feel they are missing out on company information and news.
  • Disengaged employees could cost organizations over $450 billion per year. This loss is experienced in wage dollars, retraining time, loss of profit, loss of sales, and much more.

Communication is key

In many previous sales roles I have had, there was often a strong lack of communication. Whether it was between team members, departments, or leadership, several times I noticed a strong disconnection. More times than not, it didn’t stem from a lack of desire to communicate, but rather from a lack of the ability to communicate properly. I was shocked when I found a recent study that showed 57% of employees report not being given clear directions and 69% of managers are not comfortable communicating with employees in general!

I am so thankful that Swit gives me the ability to quickly overcome these communication failures with our channels, notifications, and mentions. With Swit, the sales team is able to stay up to date on all ancillary communications while also staying focused on all primary sales activities.

Integrate your essential tools

How many times have you lost track of important conversations in your email inbox? Can’t quite remember the context? Where DID that one go? Often this is followed up with frantic digging through long email chain forwards and replies looking for context and information. Swit has alleviated this pressure for our sales team by providing new ways to communicate that go beyond traditional email forwards and replies.

Using our Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 integrations, I can easily share a client's email with my team to seek input or relay important information. Instead of the old-school way of forwarding emails and filling up inboxes, we can now discuss each message in a transparent and public channel with a simple search, drag, and drop!

Our sales team uses this feature every day, and it allows us to have focused and contextual conversations around what matters most.

Using Swit allows you to weave together all of today’s best productivity practices. We make it easy to stay focused, achieve goals, communicate clearly, and overall be as productive as possible. Being productive makes life more enjoyable, and a company is guaranteed to thrive when the employees enjoy this life together. Let's connect our employees where it counts most!
